It has been a busy month for the Daniel Footwear Harrogate store, and we have some exciting news to share with you! Did you see us on TV? We’ve been lucky enough to feature on series four of the popular BBC 1 TV show Interior Design Masters, hosted by Alan Carr!
What is Interior Design Masters?
Interior Design Masters is a BBC 1 reality TV show where ten talented and aspiring interior designers/decorators battle it out in a series of design challenges to win a career-defining contract to transform a top cocktail bar’s interior.
During the series, the contestants redecorate ordinary spaces, transforming them using creative ideas and innovative designs.
The show’s hosts, Alan Carr and interiors guru Michelle Ogundehin seek talent, passion and dazzling designs!

The show offered us the chance to star in the 4th episode of series four of Interior Design Masters, and we’re so excited to share it with you.
In the episode, the six remaining designers arrive at Michelle Ogundehin’s design studio in Brighton to receive a brief on their fourth makeover of the competition.
Welcomed by host Alan Carr, the designers discover they’ll be heading to Harrogate in North Yorkshire to transform three independent shops, one of which is our flagship Daniel Footwear store!
Working in teams of two, the designers made over either a fashion store, a women’s shoe outlet or a sheepskin shop. Each shop gave each team an individual brief with different requirements. But before they began, the teams pitched their plans to us, the shop owners, and we decided which idea we preferred and nominated a lead designer for each team.
The teams had a budget of £3,000 per shop, a team of tradespeople, and only two days to create their designs; the pressure was on!
Scrutinising the interior designs alongside Michelle in this episode was the retail space expert Ross Bailey. Ross and Michelle judged impactful windows, unique design features and extraordinary makeovers, but did the designers think about the all-important customer journey? You’ll have to watch the episode to find out!
How did Daniel Footwear feature on the show?
Interior Design Masters approached us and two other businesses in Harrogate. As the store has not had a refit since opening, we felt this would be a fantastic opportunity for us as a business. The Harrogate store is our flagship, so we were so excited for it to have a fresh re-design from talented interior designers, which we got to keep afterwards!
What does the new Daniel Footwear Harrogate store look like?
In the episode, we gave the contestants our brief for the Harrogate store to emulate the feel of a members club or boutique. Our owner, Daniel and head buyer Tori are featured on the show giving the brief to the contestants and reviewing the design after.
The contestants created beautiful designs, including a new interior shop fit and an elevated window display. Why not look at some of our before and after shots from the day?

But more importantly, they’ve created an interesting space that customers want to come and shop in.
