The sun was shining down this weekend as the royal wedding was in full swing. People travelled from all over the world to gather outside to watch the bride, groom and their wedding guests enter and leave the chapel. With up to 600 guests and over 30 million people tuning in to watch it, it was everything we hoped for and more. Praised for its diversity it was like a breath of fresh air for the whole nation.
The Wedding took place on Saturday 19th May 2018 at 12pm and was held at St Georges Chapel in Windsor. Established in the 14th Century, Prince Harry and Meghan became the 16th Royal couple to be married there since 1863.
Prince Harry and Prince William both wore their matching blues of royal frockcoat uniforms, which of course had to be approved by the queen first. With Harry and William coming from military backgrounds this was the most perfect choice for them.
Since announcing their engagement in November 2017 there has been a lot of speculation as to which designer Meghan would choose to design her wedding dress. The top three designer that were in the running where Ralph and Russo, Stella McCartney and Burberry, however Meghan kept her cards close to her chest and chose a dress designed by Clare Waight Keller who was the first female artistic director at the French fashion house Givenchy. The dress was minimal, traditional and truly stunning.
Calre also designed the 16.5-foot hand-embroidered silk tulle veil with flora detail representing all 53 countries of the commonwealth united. The Veil was then finished off with the late queen Mary’s diamond tiara made in 1932.
Meghan and Harry later changed into their outfits for the evening reception. Harry wore a stylish fitted tuxedo and Meghan wore a divine Stella McCartney dress. Paying a tribute to Princess Diana, Harry gifted Meghan with Diana’s emerald-cut aquamarine ring, which sat beautifully along side this dress.
It wouldn’t be a Royal wedding without a few well-known celebrities attending and with Meghan being a famous American actress what more can you expect. With the likes of George Clooney, Sir Elton John and Oprah Winfrey on the guest list this was not a wedding to miss.
Close friends of the royals, David and Victoria Beckham also attended the wedding. David managed to turn more than a few heads across the nation wearing a Dior Homme three-piece suite designed by Kim Jones. Victoria Beckham wore a super sleek dress from her own upcoming pre spring-summer 2019 collection accompanied by a Stephen Jones tulle pillbox hat.
George and Amal Clooney
Among some of the first celebrity guests to arrive to the ceremony were George and Amal Clooney. Amal Clooney wore a bright yellow Stella McCartney dress and matching fascinator with George wearing a grey suit with a yellow tie and pocket square which compliments Amal’s outfit perfectly.
Prior to the wedding Jason Knauf who is Prince Harry’s communications secretary said, “This wedding, like all weddings, will be a moment of fun and joy that will reflect the characters of the bride and groom.” And we couldn’t agree with him more; this truly was a beautiful wedding that we will all remember forever.
